04-03-2008: Global Foreign Direct Investment grows to almost $1 trillion in 2007
OCO Global, the leading authority on foreign investment, today released its global foreign direct investment (FDI) data for 2007. The data, compiled by OCO Monitor™ revealed that the volume of international cross-border foreign direct investment grew by 5.1% in 2007 reaching $947 billion. This data relates to new and expansion FDI projects that were announced by companies during 2007. The capital investment associated with these projects is expected to create an estimated 2.9 million new jobs globally.

The National Irish Bank / OCO Investment Performance Index for the final quarter of 2007, launched today, shows that Ireland was ranked 14th out of the world’s top 30 economies in 2007. The index, which is adjusted for economy size, shows that Ireland (index value 0.9) was one of the leading developed economies during 2007, only falling below Australia.
